Student Affairs Mission

As educators guided by TCNJ’s mission, we lead and support efforts to promote student engagement, learning, and success. We work purposefully with others to create environments that enrich the TCNJ experience and foster the development of students as whole persons. Our aspiration is to develop globally conscious citizens whose character will be distinguished by an appreciation for the range of human experience, a commitment to act and lead with integrity, and a self-directed call to lifelong learning and service to their community.

Office of Anti-Violence Initiatives Mission

Guided by the Division of Student Affairs’ mission, the Office of Anti-Violence Initiatives leads the campus effort to address issues of sexual assault, domestic/dating violence, and stalking. We work with our community partners to create a campus environment that is intolerant of abuse, responsive to needs of victims/survivors, and holds perpetrators accountable for their actions. Our objective is to establish a campus culture for safety, free from power-based personal violence, resulting in a safer living and learning environment.   

In order to satisfy the mission, two sets of goals have been developed:

For Students

• Provide tools to develop healthy relationship skills
• Increase awareness and accessibility to resources
• Facilitate transitions from one victim-service provider to another

• Ensure victims are treated with respect and appropriate action is taken

For Staff & Faculty

• Enhance skills to become empathetic, non-judgmental listeners
• Expand awareness of available resources on and off campus
• Educate on comprehensive victim-service system and their role as primary referral sources
